Marc Caplan published his essay “We were slaves? Racism, Jews and American privilege” in “Afn Shvel,” #388-390 (Summer-Fall-Winter 2020).
Marc Caplan, a native of Louisiana, is a graduate of Yale University who earned his PhD in comparative literature from New York University. His research has focused primarily on modern Yiddish literature in comparison with African literatures in English and French, and more broadly, on modern culture including film, television, theatre, and music. He is currently the Brownstone Visiting Professor of Jewish Studies at Dartmouth College.
